1996:Foundation of the satimex QUEDLINBURG Handelsgesellschaft mbH, in the initial stage with whole sale and export of vegetable and flower bulk seeds to Eastern Europe as main orientation. In the course of the following years the satimex seed company has extended its activities to other market segments and geographic regions, too.
2003: The satimex QUEDLINBURG Züchtersaaten GmbH & Co. KG, as daughter company, have been established in order to build up an own breeding basis for the future activities of satimex. Before founding or joining the satimex organization, all authoritive co-workers were employed in one of the traditional Quedlinburg seed companies or scientific institutes, so that they unite a lot of experience in seed business and high competence in research work.
Present situation
satimex offers a complete trading programme of vegetable and flower seeds:
- in bulk seeds and standard varieties mainly based on the traditional assortments of our approved seed production partners in Quedlinburg and Aschersleben
- for professional growers - high competitive novelties and hybrids, which have been taken over from other leading breeding companies in the result of intensive screening trials in the appropriate regions with an increasing number of novelties from own selection work
- satimex acts as exporter of young plants to the Baltic and CIS-states
satimex's own breeding work is focused on the species of vegetable and flowers, which are of high importance in the main markets of satimex, as cucumber, radish and aster (Callistephus chinesis).
satimex has a well-established representation and distribution network in almost all new member states of the European Community and in the CIS-republics with:
- solid relationships to all important seed packaging companies
- own representatives or firm distributors for seeds and young plants to professional growers
- close connections to the authorities with responsibilty for variety registration and protection
- direct contact to strong greenhouse companies
Contacts to other regions, e.g. to cutflower growers in Columbia and Equador, are showing first commercial results. satimex activities are based on a well equiped company infrastructure as:
- new company building with a 900qmwarehouse, laboratory and modern office
- greenhouse and open field area for both selection work and trials
- staff including 15 co-workers in marketing/administration, warehouse/laboratory and selection
- short distances and good connections to theA2, the central German highway to Eastern Europe, to the airports of Berlin and Leipzig, the customs clearance terminals in Magdeburg and Aschersleben, the offices of plant protection service and all other adminstration units who are important for managing the export business.
